Kenya Kirinyaga Karani Peaberry
Kenya Kirinyaga Karani Peaberry
Well-centered sweetness, with a mix of baking spice, dark caramel, and interesting peppery aspect to the flavors. Hints of shaved citrus, bell pepper, jalapeño jelly, blackberry, strong mulling spice notes. City to Full City.
Full Cupping Notes
The fragrance of the ground coffee had a light brown sugar sweetness, with some molasses and almond vanilla, along with an interesting green bell pepper note. The intensity picks up in the wet aroma, caramelized sugar notes are very sweet, with hints of root beer, sarsaparilla-like sweet herbal aspects, and a note of coriander seed. The brew has well-centered sweetness to the profiles, with a mix of baking spice highlights, dark caramel, and interesting peppery aspects to the flavors. The latter crops up as green bell pepper, and jalapeño jelly, but fades a bit as it cools. The cup cools with more citrus and fruit, like orange peel shavings, along with tangy notes of blackberry and dried tamarind. The acidity level is super, underscored by a note of tart hibiscus drink that brings a mouth refreshing element to the tasting experience. The aroma comes alive as the cup temperature comes down a bit, and we noted mulling spices, like Chai, clove, nutmeg, and mace, along with black peppery pungent hint, fading to aromatic cocktail bitters in the long aftertaste.
